Our library is your library
Cheadle Library continues to thrive as a community hub, and we continue to look for ways to make the space relevant for everyone.
Book loaning is core to our existence, but we also hold regular activities including:
baby bounce,
knit and natter,
nimble fingers craft group,
University of the Third Age (U3A) book clubs,
and much, much more.
"Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do”, said chair of trustees Ivan Wozniak. “It is their enthusiasm and ideas and customer service which has created a library of which we can all be proud”.
Free computer learning sessions for beginners is just one idea we're exploring. Please get in touch with your computer training needs and ideas.
Cheadle's first ever book festival
We hosted Cheadle's first ever book festival on 6th September. Local authors discussed and signed their books. Our special “Story Garden” provided a setting for children’s story telling and an opportunity to dress up as a favourite character.
Dawn Jutton (Staffordshire Poet Laureate from 2022-24) judged entries to our August children’s poetry competition, and hosted a Poetry and Prosecco evening to finish the day. “There really is something for everyone”, as trustee organiser Karen Butcher said.

Interactive story-time delights children
Staffordshire History Centre outreach officer Lizzie Short joined us recently to present 2 interactive children’s stories “Mary the Mole” and “Archive animals”. The stories entertained as well as educated in a family fun session.
Lizzie ensured everything was pitched at the right level and fun for all ages. Trustee Ivan Wozniak said, “It was a pleasure to welcome Lizzie to the library. It was great to hear the happy children singing along with the stories. We hope Lizzie will visit the library again for other sessions in the future”.
