Summer reading challenges

The Summer Reading Challenge is an educational competition held in public libraries around the UK every year organised by The Reading Agency. It began in 1999 with the intention of encouraging primary school children to read books during the summer holidays.

Five children are pictured at the top: Robyn playing by a stream, Priya gardening, Jake exploring with a magnifying glass, Sola watering plants, and Rhys on a rocky path. Five more characters are at the bottom: a moss-covered golem, Jess playing soccer, a book-shaped creature with roots, Jamal planting, and another moss-covered golem. The poster encourages exploration to find the characters and put their numbers in the circles.
